City of Terre Haute Recycling
          Sign up for the city-wide program. Residents who sign up are provided a gray 65-gallon cart, and are charged $5.50 per month with quarterly billing by Republic Services. Every two weeks, recycling is picked up by Republic Services. Items that can be recycled include, paper, plastic cardboard and metal, but no glass.

Goodwill Industries Recycling Center
          The The Goodwill Industries Recycling Center is located behind their retail store at 2702 S. 3rd St. in Terre Haute. They accept newspapers , catalogs and junk mail, cardboard/paperboard, aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles (#1 and #2), old clothes and household items. No glass! Attendant on site to help unload your stuff. Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am to 5pm; Saturday, 9am to 6pm; Sunday, 12 noon to 5pm.

Indiana State University Recycling Center
          The ISU Recycling Center is located on 9th Street, 1/2 block north of Chestnut St. and Ballyhoo Tavern. It is a fenced in area on the right side of the street. Open to the general public. Hours: Monday-Friday, 6am to 5pm; Saturday, 6am to noon. They accept glass (white, brown, green), plastic (separate bottles from other types of plastic), newspapers, magazines, books, cardboard, aluminum and steel cans. On select days, they accept TVs for a small fee.

West Central Solid Waste District
          The West Central Solid Waste District serves primarily Montgomery, Putnam and Parke Counties. Occasionally, it sponsors Tox Away days in Terre Haute. Tox Away days accept toxic waste like pesticides and paints. These days are usually advertised on billboards around town.

Goodman & Wolfe
          1350 College Avenue in Terre Haute, 812-232-1251. Goodman & Wolfe buys all sorts of scrap metal, including ordinary household stuff (e.g., metal bookshelves, tables). They also buy old window-unit air conditioners, if the freon has been disposed of (contact your local plumber for assistance).
